Japan can be a daunting place to live in , especially if you dont speak the language fluently.
I get anxious when I have to visit the post office and I dont know how to express what I need. Thus I decided to pen down How To’s so you will not not have to worry about it.

This manual is for sending letters/package upto 4 kg and in Japan only.
For overseas please check
https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/index_en.html

  1. Go to your nearest post office.
  2. As them for a letter pack. In Japanese- Retāpakku onegaishimasu.
    There are two kinds
Letter Pack Plus: Delivered face-to-face with receipt seal or signature required, and tracking available.(about 520 yen)
Letter Pack Light: Delivered to mailboxes. (about 320 yen)
  3. Then you fill in your To and From details and hand it over to the employee in mail section of JP post.

4. The employee will then peel off the tracking details from the envelope and hand it over to you. You can also scan the QR code to see tracking details
